Sutton High School is a diverse community dedicated to enabling its pupils to develop their intellect and talents and a confidence to believe that their aspirations are achievable. From an early beginning, we encourage the girls to be honest, reliable and trustworthy. Academic rigour is valued at all stages and the focus in the classroom and beyond is on challenge, engagement and enjoyment. Learning is celebrated. The school has a well qualified and highly motivated staff, both teaching and non teaching. All members of the community are valued and given the opportunity to flourish in a caring and supportive ethos.
Our aims are that Sutton High School gives girls:
- A rich and diverse curriculum in which they can achieve at all levels within a creative and vibrant atmosphere.
- The self confidence to be independent learners and achieve beyond the school environment.
- An enquiring and discriminating mind and a desire for knowledge.
- Respect for others.
We value the partnership which exists between school, parents and community and the part it plays in realising this vision.
Sutton
High School is a vibrant and friendly community offering an excellent
education to girls aged from 3 to 18. Our attractive, green site near
the heart of Sutton embraces modern and sympathetically refurbished buildings
with specialist laboratories, workshops, and computer suites. Our extensive
sports facilities include a sports hall, swimming pool and fitness gym.
All classes are taught by expert specialist teachers, and examination
results are consistently outstanding with Key Stage 1 to A level. They
are well above national and local averages. We aim to provide girls
with an exciting and challenging education. There is a rich programme
of educational visits and activities in school, complemented by a wealth
of cross-curricular opportunities in Music, Sport, Drama and much more.
One of 29 schools of the Girls' Day School Trust, Sutton High School
benefits from being part of a nationwide network of sister schools
for tournaments and competitions in sports, the arts, careers and university
guidance. Pre-school and after school care is available in the Junior
School, and the School is a member of the Nationwide Nursery Vouchers
scheme.
Girls are tested for entry at 4+, 11+ and 16+ although we will always
try to find a space for a bright girl who applies at other times. Scholarships
and bursaries are available for girls applying to the Senior School.
