Our Pre-Reception Class is for girls who will turn three years of age by August 31st 2007.

For entry in September 2007 girls must have been born between 1st September 2003 and 31st August 2004.

For entry in September 2008 girls must have been born between 1st September 2004 and 31st August 2005.

Places are offered following an informal assessment at the school.

Places are available on a ½ and full day and there are a maximum of 20 girls in the class.

Our Pre-Reception class is housed in our existing Homestead building and is fully equipped to meet the educational and physical needs of the new younger members of our school.

We aim to provide an environment where girls develop a love of learning through a programme of carefully structured play. Planned activities will encourage them to explore concepts in mathematics. The provision of a wide variety of materials within a purposeful context will encourage their own mark making and lead to the development of writing. Listening and concentration, along with the development of language, is developed through stories, discussion and opportunities to share experiences. Enquiring minds, natural curiosity and a love of learning is encouraged through topic work linked to the world around us. A themed curriculum encourages a wide range of role play activities and imaginative play. Larger outdoor equipment encourages the development of co-ordination and physical skills.

The girls benefit from our specialist teaching in physical education, swimming and music and they enjoy the many additional facilities that our school provides.

Girls will be well prepared for Reception class in September 2008 and thus making the transition seamless.

‘Opening our doors to girls from the age of 3 has been an exciting and important development for the school. It reinforces our overwhelming commitment to ensure the continuity of education from 3 to 18 years,’ says Mr S Callaghan, Headmaster.

‘Our Pre-Reception Class is an exciting and welcoming addition to our Junior School. We already have a commitment to education of ‘the whole child’ and we are now be able to commence this at an earlier stage,’ comments Mrs E Wilson, Headmistress of the Junior School.
