Continued Exam Success with GCSE Results

Once again we have a great deal to be proud of having achieved the best A Level results in the borough* last week and a set of outstanding GCSE results this week. Over 70% of girls gained 11 GCSE passes and a quarter them achieved straight A and A* grades in all of their subjects. Particular congratulations go to Sarah Bishop, Cara Hyde, Natasha Patel and Charlotte Weller who gained 43 A* passes between them.

Across the board the results are outstanding with 100% pass rates in 70% of the subjects including Chemistry, Biology and IGCSE Maths. 100% A and A* grades were achieved in Latin, Chinese, Religious Studies and Greek.  66% of our girls achieved A* or A grades which is much higher than the national average of 20% (across all schools) and 53.7% national average for independent schools.

Mr S Callaghan commented,“ I am delighted with these results and would like to congratulate all the girls and the staff on their success. The results demonstrate our success in enabling girls to achieve their potential across a wide range of subjects. I am particularly pleased that we have achieved a 100% pass rate in a number of subjects including IGSCE Maths. These achievements are particularly noteworthy as they have been reached while all the girls have participated fully in all aspects of school life while working towards their examinations. We are looking forward to working with them as they continue their studies and embrace a wide range of new and exciting opportunities in our Sixth Form.”

A Level Results 2009

Once again, 100% A Level Pass rate

100% A Level Pass Rate 2009

We are celebrating the success of our Year 13 girls following the release of the A level exam results on 20th August 2009.  Once again the girls achieved a 100% pass rate with an outstanding 64% of grades being at A grade and 87.5% of grades at A and B, a considerable increase on previous years results. 17 girls, nearly a third of the year group, achieved A grades in all of their subjects at A and AS level. 14 girls achieved A grades in 3 subjects at A level and 9 girls achieved A grades in 4 A level subjects.

The results are outstanding across all subjects with 87.5% of all grades at A and B. In Maths, 96% of girls achieved A and B grades, in English Literature 93 % achieved A and B grades and in the Sciences over 80% of the grades were A and B. A 100% pass rate at A and B grade was achieved by the girls studying Art and the pass rate was the same for another 14 of the subjects studied by the Year 13 girls.

We once again have girls heading for Oxford and Cambridge as all of those who were offered places have achieved their grades. In addition, all of those girls who were offered places to study Medicine have achieved their grades.  The full list of University destinations for this year will be available for download after Prize-Giving on September 18th.

Mr Steve Callaghan, Headmaster, commented,” I am delighted with our hugely successful A level results today. This year has seen a very high achieving group of girls, not only academically but also in their contributions to school life and the wider local community.  This is an outstanding set of results, one of our highest ever, and the girls should be congratulated on their achievements. I know that they will all go on to be outstanding young women in their different fields and as a school we are very proud of them.”
