Sutton High hosted the annual semi-finals of the Crystall Carter Public Speaking competition. In our heat were students from Croydon, Sydenham, Bromley and Blackheath. Gabby K in Year 11 represented Sutton High.
Poppy-Mei S writes her review about what she enjoyed most about the experience.
“I liked attending the Crystall Carter Public Speaking competition because the girls who were competing spoke about some really interesting subjects. The speech about how accents affect the way people see us really caught my attention because my accent is unique from my friends, as I have Malaysian parents. I found it useful to see how they delivered their speeches especially because I have competed in a public speaking competition before, and I picked up some useful techniques. The way they talked about their subjects showed that they were very passionate about the things they were talking about.”
