The role
We are looking for an organised and dynamic technician, with a genuine passion for Performing Arts, to join the ‘Technician Team of the Year 2022’ at Sutton High School, a selective, independent school for 850 girls aged 3-18.
You will be responsible for providing high quality technical support for drama, music and dance performances and meeting the audio-visual needs of wider school events, including the use of AV equipment in teaching and learning across the school.
The position requires a good knowledge of stage lighting and sound technology, and audio-visual equipment and other technical resources, and the willingness to work closely with the teaching staff and students, to provide technical support for all events requiring audio-visual technology. There will be additional hours required outside of school hours to support school productions and events. An understanding of general IT support, music technology or video production will be an advantage.
You will have a good understanding of presentation set-up and the IT skills required to support staff with events such as lectures and festivals, or audio-visual classroom needs. You must have either training or experience of performance lighting and sound technology and you will be comfortable working at height. The successful candidate will be dealing with a wide variety of people at all levels, so candidates must be effective communicators, with strong interpersonal skills, flexible, adaptable and have a willingness to work as part of a team.

The role is 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday. There will be evening and weekend work to cover school events, such as productions and concerts. Part-time applicants will be considered, but a willingness to work evenings and weekends is essential.
