Lillie P in Year 3 has been awarded the GDST Laurie Magnus poetry prize for her poem 'The Delhi Girl'.
The competition was judged by the poet, Claudia Daventry, who awarded Lillie first prize in the Year 3 and 4 category. She said:
"Lillie’s poem has a hint of rhyme, instantly transports the reader to another – dusty – place with ‘beeping horns’, where the poet’s persona is separated from the beggar girl by a glass window. It is economical (few words) yet conjures another world for the reader and tells an eloquent story."
