100% pass rate for Sutton High's GCSE students
Despite a challenging year, we are delighted to see a 100% pass rate for this year’s resilient GCSE cohort, with over 50% of grades at Level 9 or 8 and 82% Level 9-7.
With the Covid-19 Pandemic putting a halt to the usual scheduled GCSE exams this year, our girls have adapted and embraced a strange 'new normal', which is far beyond what they could have even imagined at the beginning of the school year.
Beth Dawson, Head, commented:
“I am so proud of what our girls have achieved in such unprecedented circumstances. Their grit and resilience goes far beyond the excellent results they have gained today. They have committed to raising funds for charity, volunteering in the local community and supporting our younger girls, whilst fully embracing online guided home learning programmes to stretch themselves and prepare for their Sixth Form years. They have risen to the challenges that 2020 has brought with determination, warmth and true Sutton High spirit.”
Given our small classes and detailed understanding of each girl’s strengths, our teachers were well-placed to produce centre-assessed grades for each pupil. Every teacher worked hard to do this to the best of their ability.
This year our Year 11 have faced uncertainty and unexpected challenges which will only serveto make them stronger, preparing them for whatever life may throw at them. As ever, the true Sutton High spirit shines through and we are so proud to see these resilient young women take it all in their stride.
Good luck for the next chapter girls, we can't wait to see you shine.
