Staff have been visiting Year 11 girls on work experience over the last two weeks and it has been lovely to see the students not just looking the part but displaying maturity and confidence in what they do – and in several cases, being mistaken as employees by visitors. I have loved visiting students in a variety of placements, from engineering, design, marketing, banking, fashion, advertising, business, education, retail and rehabilitation and have seen a range of skills being used. Many students have undertaken a project, given presentations, carried out real research and have written reports which have been shared online.
Here is a photo of Sachi giving a presentation to employees at the end of her experience at Mous. She completed a video diary of her week and we look forward to hearing more during the debrief on Induction Day on Monday.
Annie’s artistic talent is clear to see in some of the sketches she was doing at her placement at Vivienne Westwood, and she was able to learn about the whole design process, from the initial ideas to the design, creation and sales.
We are grateful to all the employers who have worked hard to make the placements meaningful experiences and to provide variety and training. Do let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org if you think your company would like to offer work experience next year to one of our students.
