On the 22nd of November, me and 9 other year 8 girls went to attend the Boeing Global Services (Training Solutions) 3rd Annual Girls in Engineering competitive event at the Boeing Flight Training Campus at Gatwick. We were split into groups of 5 and did all the activities together.
We were able to participate in many fun activities! We built a glider, an aeroplane wing and a moon lander, also we got to hear from lots of female engineers about their journeys and how they became engineers. They also spoke about the hardships they faced because of their gender and age.
We got points from each activity and at the end they were added all together and whoever got the most points gets a prize, this year one of our groups (the Sutton Jets) were the winners! As a prize, we get to go back to Boeing at Gatwick for a flight simulation experience. Overall, the day was really fun and we learnt so much from engineering techniques to building our teamwork skills. I was really lucky to be given this opportunity where I was able to experience so many new things.
