“A few months ago, I wrote an essay for the Minds Underground Essay Competition 2025, an essay writing competition where students are encouraged to develop their critical thinking and writing skills through essay writing. I participated in the Modern Languages category, and was recently awarded runner-up. My essay was on the topic “How does multilingualism shape identity in a globalized world?”, in which I explored the role of language in reflecting cultural heritage, influencing self-perception, and encouraging cross-cultural understanding. As someone planning to pursue languages in university, it was a topic that I found particularly fascinating and engaging, and it was a very rewarding experience that helped me develop new skills and gain valuable insights I look forward to building upon in my future studies.”
