Winners at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2025
Sutton High School GDST is thrilled to announce its victory as London Independent School of the Year at the prestigious Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2025 — a highly regarded Awards ceremony held in central London by The Chelsea Magazine Company, publishers of Independent School Parent.
This incredible honour marks a landmark year for Sutton High School GDST, who were also shortlisted for the TES Independent School of the Year 2025. On top of this, the school was recently awarded the rare and prestigious judgement of “Significant Strength” — reserved for schools that go above and beyond under the new ISI framework, as well as being welcomed into the HMC community of leading independent schools.
As the school continues to thrive, anticipation builds for the unveiling of its brand-new, state-of-the-art 18,000 sq. ft Sixth Form Centre in Summer 2026, a bold step forward in its commitment to excellence.
Sutton High continues to deliver exceptional academic outcomes, as demonstrated by the 2025 examination results:
A Levels
91% of students secured their first-choice university
86% achieved A*–B grades, with a 100% pass rate
57% of grades were A or A* — double the national average
22.8% of grades were A*, compared to the national average of 9%
GCSEs
25.6% of grades were 9 — five times the national average
47.4% were 9/8, and 68.1% were 9–7
99.7% of grades were 9–4

With over 700 nominations across 24 categories, this year’s awards were fiercely contested. Finalists for the London Independent School of the Year included Bancroft’s, Brighton College Prep Kensington, Hampton Court House, Highgate, and Latymer Upper.
