On Thursday 27th November, Year 6 went to perform our Christmas songs to the people at the Salvation Army. We left at 1:15 and walked through Sutton town centre. We were full of excitement, as we got to a big building called Salvation Army. We placed our coats in a small room that felt warm and welcoming and were greeted by the smiling faces of our audience. As we got placed in height order we started heading to the room were we preformed.
As a whole year group, we performed a selection of Christmas songs and uplifting tunes, including Jingle Bells, True colours, It came upon a midnight clear, When Christmas comes to town, O come all ye faithful and Carol of the bells. Two girls also performed solos: Sara played a minuet on the flute and Riya sang ‘How far I’ll go’. It was so wonderful to see the audience’s joyful faces and they joined in with some of the festive songs when they knew the words.
It was very special to be able to perform and bring our special Sutton High Christmas joy to the church and we were proud to be able to do this together as a year group and represent Sutton High Prep.
