“On Thursday 2nd July, the whole of Sutton High Prep School took part in its annual Day of Sport, representing their houses in a variety of events to earn points towards the House Cup.
The morning saw Years 1–6 competing at Sutton Cricket Club, persevering through a mixture of rain and sunshine. Each year group participated in a range of events, with Years 1 and 2 showing great determination in activities such as the bucket toss and obstacle relay; Years 3 and 4 competing in the tennis ball throw and baton relay; and Years 5 and 6 taking part in a triangular competition featuring events such as the endurance run, javelin throw and standing long jump. Throughout the day, students demonstrated resilience, determination and excellent sportsmanship, while enthusiastically supporting one another. It was wonderful to see so many pupils showcasing their skills and making valuable contributions to their houses. One of the highlights of the day was the fantastic encouragement from students, staff and parents alike, creating a supportive atmosphere that inspired everyone to give their best.
In the afternoon, with the sun finally making an appearance, EYFS took part in their own Day of Sport on the MUGA. Supported by teachers and parents, the children competed in a series of fun races to make the final contributions to their house points. Events included the egg and spoon race, bean bag balance and bean bag throw, allowing the children to demonstrate the key skills they have developed throughout the year, including coordination, balance and aim.
By the end of the day, every pupil in the Prep School had participated in a range of sporting events, providing a fantastic celebration of sport at Sutton High and showcasing the enthusiasm, effort and achievement of every individual. Once the final house points had been counted, Dora Black were crowned the overall winners. With Dora Black also winning the Senior Day of Sport, it was an incredibly successful sporting week for the house.
Congratulations to every student who participated and contributed to such a fantastic day, and thank you to all the staff and parents whose support helped make the event so enjoyable and memorable.”
