Senior School Day of Sport 2026

On Wednesday 1st July 2026, Sutton High School hosted its annual Day of Sport at Sutton Grammar School Fields.

This year’s event centered on promoting inclusivity, participation and enjoyment through a diverse programme of both traditional and modern sporting activities. Every student took part in at least two events, ranging from classic track and field competitions to an exciting ‘Cube’-style challenge.

The Cube events, expertly organised and led by our dedicated Sixth Form students, provided participants with the opportunity to test their mental, physical and problem-solving skills through a series of engaging individual challenges. Alongside this, the end ball and tug of war tournaments showcased excellent teamwork, tactical awareness and determination from all competitors.

The enthusiasm and commitment shown by every student created a vibrant and supportive atmosphere throughout the day, resulting in outstanding participation and some excellent performances across all events.

It was particularly rewarding to see so many students embracing a variety of leadership opportunities in the lead-up to the event and on the day itself, serving as Year Group House Captains, officials and competitors. Their contributions played a significant role in the smooth running and overall success of the day.

The PE Department felt immensely proud to see such high levels of participation and to witness the enjoyment and sense of achievement on the students’ faces as they celebrated their successes and proudly received their medals.

Final House Results

1st Place – Black: 1271 points
2nd Place – West: 1167 points
3rd Place – Stanley: 1126 points
4th Place – PMK: 1101 points

Congratulations to Black House on their well-deserved victory. It was a truly memorable moment to see the pride and excitement of the Black students as they celebrated winning the House trophy for the first time in many years. Their determination, teamwork and unwavering support for one another throughout the day were evident, making their success all the more rewarding and a fitting recognition of their collective effort.

The success of Day of Sport 2026 was only possible through the collective effort of our whole school community. A sincere thank you goes to our students for their enthusiasm, commitment and exemplary participation throughout the day. We are equally grateful to all of the staff who supported the event by officiating and running activities across the site, as well as to our catering team, first aid staff, site management team, data team and of course the PE department, whose hard work behind the scenes ensured the day ran smoothly and safely.

We would also like to thank our parents and families for their continued support and encouragement, both in preparing the students for the day and for coming along to cheer them on. Your presence helped to create such a positive and celebratory atmosphere.

Above all, we hope that every student leaves Day of Sport with an even greater passion for sport and physical activity. Whether competing, participating or supporting their House as part of a team, we hope they have developed confidence, resilience and teamwork and, most importantly, enjoyed being part of such a memorable day. Events such as Day of Sport are about far more than winning; they provide opportunities to challenge ourselves, celebrate one another’s achievements and experience the value of belonging to a team. We hope these experiences inspire our students to continue participating in sport and physical activity long into the future.
