After a wonderfully full and competitive year of House events, we are delighted to announce that Frances West have been crowned this year’s House Cup winners, following a truly nail-biting finish to the overall competition.
The final standings tell only part of the story. Across the year, the lead shifted more than once, with different Houses finding success in different areas and the overall places changing as the programme unfolded. Frances West made a strong start through House Face Art, Dora Black surged impressively through events such as the House Christmas Trees, Phyllis Mudford King continued to build momentum through performance and creative competitions, and Henrietta Stanley remained a consistent presence across an increasingly varied calendar. By the closing stages, the competition was still very much alive, with every event carrying real significance, with Frances West’s victory in the House Cheer competition providing a fitting final highlight.
Most importantly, this year’s House Cup has been a celebration of participation in its broadest sense. As the range of House events continues to grow, so too do the opportunities for every girl to contribute in her own way. Some have represented their House through sport, others through music, drama, photography, choreography, design, creative thinking, leadership, organisation or simply by turning up with enthusiasm and cheering others on. Every contribution has mattered.
The breadth of this year’s programme has shown the real strength of our House system: it gives pupils the chance to discover new interests, take risks, support their peers and feel part of something bigger than themselves. Whether earning points on stage, on the pitch, behind the scenes or through quiet encouragement, every girl has played a part in shaping the final result.
Congratulations to Frances West on a superb House Cup victory, and very well done to all pupils across Dora Black, Frances West, Henrietta Stanley and Phyllis Mudford King for making this such a vibrant, joyful and closely fought year of House competition.
