Pupils are celebrating another fabulous year of A Level results and university destinations, with 90% gaining a place at their first-choice university and a 100% pass rate. With 93% of pupils attaining the A*-C grades (against a national figure of 78%) and over one in six grades at an A*. Results in French, Art, Sociology, Computer Science, Drama, Economics, Music, PE, RS and Spanish were 100% A*-B.
Every year sees an increasingly diverse range of courses pursued by our Sixth Form pupils, which is testament to the personalised teaching and bespoke futures advice they receive here.
Traditional courses such as Law, Accounting and Theology remain ever popular. Having achieved three A* grades, Mia will read Law at Birmingham, and Harriet will read Law at Sheffield, having gained two As and an A. Amelia, who achieved A, A, A, will read Theology at Bristol and, with three A grades, Chloe heads off to study Accounting and Finance at Warwick. With three A grades, our Head Girl, Jemima, will read Sport and Exercise Science at Durham. Across the rest of our Student Leadership Team, Gabby will read French and Spanish at Christ Church, Oxford, having gained our highest results of A*, A*, A*, A*. Maria, Erin, Hannah and Lara, our Student Leaders, will read Liberal Arts at King’s College London and Warwick, and History at Leeds and Edinburgh.
However, we have seen an increase in more contemporary and specialist routes towards 21st-century career pathways. With a focus on sustainability, Isla will study Environmental Change and Sustainability at Birmingham and Kaniha will read Architectural Environment Engineering at Nottingham. Erin will pursue her passion for Outdoor Leadership at the University of Cumbria, learning in the mountains of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Lake District National Park.
With the Creative Industries growing at nearly four times the rate of our national economy, it is no surprise that several pupils will be pursuing this direction, having gained places at Russell Group universities. These include Ella, who will study Game Design at Liverpool, and Areej, who will read Film and Television Production at York. Pupils are also heading off to some of the country’s top creative arts institutions, including Lara, who will study Fashion Management at the London College of Fashion, and Keira, who will be developing her acting career at Mountview.
It is one of the many advantages of an all-girls education that our pupils do not feel limited by gender stereotypes and often forge their own paths towards traditionally male-dominated fields. With three A* grades, Lucie will study Zoology, while Computing and Engineering courses remain popular, with pupils gaining places for Software Engineering at Southampton, Electrical Engineering at UCL, Civil Engineering at Loughborough and Computer Science with Cyber Security at City St George’s.
STEM-focused degrees maintain their prominence amongst our pupils, with a third of our cohort pursuing these subjects. Places have been taken up in Pharmacy at UCL, Biomedical Sciences at Warwick, Optometry at City St George’s, Physiotherapy at King’s College London, Sport Sciences at Exeter, and Aeronautics and Astronautics at Southampton.
