We entered approximately 40 speech and drama students into the festival performing poetry, monologue and duologue scenes. They all did so well – supporting each other wonderfully and sharing their skills and enthusiasm for performance.
There were some excellent results with the following students gaining a 1st or 2nd place in their categories:
Amelia S-G and Zahra K – 1st place in ‘Duologue 12 years and under’ – Winners of the Mary Shackel Cup
Olivia W – 2nd place in ‘poem 7 years and under’
Arissa S-G – 2nd place in ‘poem 7 years and under’
Devasena N – 2nd place in ‘a poem of own choice 7 years and under’
Siya K – 2nd place in ‘a poem of own choice 8 & 9 years’
Zahra and Amelia were given honours first award at the Sutton Musical Festival with the gold medal award for their recent performance “The glass slipper.” Zahra and Amelia will both be attending the winners event and will be awarded a cup by the local Mayor.
Lizzie Y also won first prize—the gold medal—in the piano competition at the Sutton Music Festival. Well done to all those who participated, we’re so proud of you all here at Sutton High!
