Year 6 Ambassadors Shine at GDST Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Forum

Last week, we were very fortunate to visit the GDST head offices in Victoria to take part in a trust-wide Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Forum. As Year 6 Pupil Ambassadors, we represented our school alongside pupils from almost all of the GDST Junior Schools, who came together in London for this special event.

Throughout the day, we took part in a variety of engaging workshops that encouraged us to think carefully about what the word community means and how it applies to our own schools. One activity involved creating a soundscape, where we used different sounds and voices to express our thoughts and feelings about inclusion and belonging. Another memorable task involved using coloured threads to demonstrate how everyone is connected, showing that although we may be different, our shared interests and values link us together.

We also really enjoyed the opportunity to meet and talk to pupils from other GDST schools. Listening to their ideas and experiences helped us to understand how other schools promote equality and inclusion. It was interesting to discover how much we had in common, even though we all come from different places.

The forum was both insightful and inspiring, and it made us reflect on how we can make a positive difference in our own school community. We left feeling proud to be part of the GDST school family and excited to share what we had learned with others. Overall, it was a memorable and meaningful experience that we will not forget.
