I would like to start by saying a huge thank you to the Sutton High Community for making me feel so incredibly welcome on my return. It’s truly a joy to be back at the school that shaped so much of who I am today. As many of you know, I was a pupil here from Year 5 through to Year 13, and my memories of those years remain some of the most cherished. The friendships I formed during that time continue to be a meaningful part of my life. While much has changed, the core message of Sutton High—be confident in who you are, believe in yourself, and aim high—remains as powerful and inspiring as ever.
My first three weeks as Head of the Prep School have been nothing short of joyful and rewarding. It’s a privilege to engage with our girls, staff, and parents, and to reflect together on what makes our school so special—and how we can make it even better. Our values are felt deeply by the girls, and one Reception pupil captured it beautifully during assembly this week: “A friendly school looks like Sutton High and feels like home.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Open Morning was a moment of immense pride. I spoke about our school with genuine conviction and warmth, sharing how we nurture learning through courage, truth, and joy. But the true stars of the day were our Year 6 girls. When asked what Sutton High means to them, one replied, “One of the main reasons I love SHS is that they don’t silence your differences—they embrace them.” That sentiment speaks volumes about the heart of our school.
