SHS Association
Welcome to the SHSA
We bring together girls, alumnae, parents, staff, governors and all supporters of Sutton High School GDST

We organise a series of annual events, including a Summer Fair, Parent Party, Winter Fair and Quiz Night. This is in addition to lectures, exhibitions and performances throughout the year. Everyone is welcome, and you can bring friends along too.
For current parents the SHSA meets bi-weekly with members of our Senior Leadership Team to share ideas and contribute to new initiatives in school. Many members also help at our Open Events, where they are on hand to answer any questions from prospective parents about life at Sutton High School.
Whatever your connection to our school, you have free and life-long membership of the SHSA (Sutton High School Association).
We are in the process of building the SHSA volunteer committee and are a very friendly bunch of parents who welcome everyone so please join us if you can spare some time. To volunteer to represent your child’s year group please fill out the link here. Contact the SHSA team @ shsa2023@yahoo.com

LATEST NEWS AND EVENTS

In the run up to Christmas 2025 fourteen teams consisting of over one hundred Sutton High School parents and supporters took part in the SHSA Annual Quiz and raised over two thousand pounds for the SHSA School fund.
The teams spanned representatives from nursery, prep, senior and sixth form as well as School governors and local quizzers. Our enthusiastic participants included teams such as Baubles for Brains, The Quizfathers, Let’s Get Quizzical, Stardust, None of your Quizzness, Lizzie Quizzy, Sutton the Bar Low, Licence to guess, The Mistletoe Mavens, Pesky Parents and SHSA Smarty Pants. Ultimately the School ‘Guv’nors’ team emerged triumphant stealing the champions’ crown from the Craggy Islanders who have won for the past three years in a row.
Winners: The Guv’nors—our very own School governors—clinched victory with a score of 79 narrowly beating last year’s champions, the Craggy Islanders.
Runners-up: The Craggy Islanders came in second with 72 though didn’t leave empty-handed, triumphing in the Wheelbarrow of Booze raffle. Their joint team members walked away with an impressive haul of donated wine and beer.
Third Place: Pesky Parents proudly secured third place with a very respectable score of 64.
The SHSA team kept the bar buzzing all evening, while our catering staff served up hearty jacket potatoes with a variety of delicious fillings. As always, the quiz was brilliantly hosted by Clare Hayward (Mrs Dawson’s PA and much loved, longstanding staff member of 16 years) and her husband Graham who generously donate their time each year.
Cindy Sharma, SHSA Chairperson said, “A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped make the evening such a fun and successful community event. Our parent volunteers are amazing so please volunteer your time whenever we have events – it’s such a fun way to meet new parents and raise money for the School. Watch this space for details of next year’s quiz date.”
Sutton High Head, Mrs Dawson said, “Thank you so much to our parents and governors for their unstinting generosity and hard work. Successful events like these are testimony to Sutton High’s unwavering community spirit.”

Craggy Islanders strike gold once again at SHSA Quiz
The Craggy Islanders emerged triumphant for the second year running at our annual SHSA school quiz on Friday night but not without some stiff competition from The Linguistic Legends, Universally Challenged and The Guvnors to name but three of our brilliant teams. One lucky parent, Ron, won the wheelbarrow of beer raffle much to his delight and the teams all enjoyed a night of teasers and challenges ably hosted by volunteer SHS staffer Clare and her quizmaster husband Graham.
The Magical SHSA 1884 Bursary Fundraiser Raises Nearly £4000!
We recently celebrated in true style with our #1884BursaryFundraiser, marking Sutton High School’s 140th anniversary as part of the GDST (Girls’ Day School Trust) family. And wow – what a night! 💜 Parents, governors, alumnae, and the wider SHS community came together for an evening of fun, fundraising, and generosity.
Head Beth Dawson, set the tone for the evening with her opening speech on how bursaries can transform lives, while we had the pleasure of welcoming back alumna and bursary recipient Aletha Shepherd from the #Classof200 who shared her inspirational story.
Things got really exciting when MC & DJ Andrew Morris hosted the auction, including a hotly contested bidding war for the Cook’d by Helen Nathan dinner party – eight lucky people will get to enjoy a fabulous feast! The Wheelbarrow of Beer raffle was a crowd favourite raising over £800, and the lucky winner was none other than Mrs Sharma.
A massive thank you to our tireless sixth formers who welcomed guests and served throughout the night, the amazing Chartwells team for keeping everyone fed, our fab in-house catering team, the ever-brilliant Sutton High caretakers, and the wonderful staff volunteers Mrs James, Mr Essenhigh, and Mrs Griffin. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!
