Beyond the classroom

Our Sixth Form goes far beyond outstanding A-level teaching so that every girl leaves us as a confident woman, ready to face her future with total faith in who she is as an individual.

Meeting Sadiq Khan

Be inspired: Unique enrichment programme

Where else do you have the chance to be inspired by a vast range of talks, visits and workshops, once a week across your time in the Sixth Form?

Recent speakers have included ambassadors from the Women of the Future Programme, Stonewall and the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Our Academic Lecture Series features six lectures a year from outstanding women at the top of their field, all ranging in subject and expertise. We are very proud that some of these women are often our own alumnae, such as Dr Helen Scales.

You will also have the opportunity to attend sessions on vital life skills to prepare you for life beyond Sixth Form, such as cooking, budgeting, finance and self-defence.

Eco Club

Giving back

Our Sixth Formers are passionate about the world around them and give back to society. All girls volunteer in the community during their time here, and our annual Charity Week is run by the Sixth Form for the whole school. We encourage girls to tackle the causes that matter to them by initiating and running their own projects, and current students are making a big impact with Eco Club, Medical Society and Model United Nations. Our girls have also taken part in the Wings of Hope Achievement Awards, a national initiative to help raise money for girls' schools in India.

In May 2019, the Year 12 founders of Eco Club led the rest of the school in creating a life-size whale installation made out of used plastic bags to raise awareness of the human impact on our oceans. This fantastic statement saw the Eco Club winning the Eco Schools 'Marine Topic' Award 2019.

Leadership

Learning to lead

Our Sixth Form students are leaders.

At the top of the school you become crucial role models for our younger girls, and you are given important responsibilities which allow you to influence initiatives running within the school.
We are small enough for all girls to access our vast range of leadership opportunities, and to learn how to influence and inspire groups of people. Whether you gain a place on the Head Girls’ Team or the Magazine editorial team, or are appointed Prep School Liaison Prefect, Marketing Prefect, House Captain or Sports Captain, our Sixth Form will set you up to become a great leader.

Every girl completes a bespoke GDST Leadership course, developing skills they can use in these roles and in the positions they will hold in the future. GSDT Skills workshops on online applications, interviews and negotiation skills will ensure our girls challenge gender stereotypes in the workplace to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Sports programme

Love it? We have a club for it

From yoga to orienteering, and from canoeing to bouldering, there is something for everyone to enjoy. For girls who prefer more competitive sports, we offer netball, hockey, swimming, tennis and athletics.

Girls who excel at sport are given extra support from the PE department through our Sports Scholars Programme. This support can include one to one mentor meetings, opportunities to train during Sixth Form games afternoons and workshops on sports psychology and exercise physiology. Top performers in Hockey, Netball, Cricket and Football also have the opportunity to represent the GDST Select teams which are teams made up of pupils from across our network of schools.

There are also regular opportunities to perform in our school productions, including musicals, plays and dance displays.
