Sutton High School Celebrates SHSA’s Outstanding Fundraising Success

Sutton High School is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Sutton High School Association (SHSA), whose tireless fundraising efforts over the past three years have made a lasting impact on the school community.

The SHSA — a dynamic and inclusive group of parents, alumnae, staff, governors, and friends — has raised funds for a wide array of initiatives that have enriched student life across both the Prep and Senior Schools. Thanks to their dedication, Sutton High now boasts a brand-new outdoor gym and outdoor table tennis tables, enhancing physical activity and wellbeing for all pupils.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the SHSA has supported a variety of memorable student experiences, including a Silent Christmas Disco for Senior School girls and a hugely popular Circus Skills Workshop for the Prep School and the Bursary Ball last October. The Drama Department has also benefited from upgraded radio microphones and state-of-the-art stage lighting in Hayes Hall — elevating the quality of performances and productions.

Head of Sutton High School, Beth Dawson, praised the SHSA’s contributions:
“The SHSA embodies the spirit of our school — collaborative, creative, and community-driven. Their work not only raises funds but brings joy, connection, and opportunity to our students. We are deeply grateful for their continued support.”

The SHSA parent team is lead by Prep School mum, Cindy, and Senior School mum, Tania.

Cindy shares: “Join the SHSA – Just 30 Minutes Can Make a Big Difference! Volunteering with the SHSA is genuinely enjoyable and a fantastic way to connect with other parents. We’re working to get more people involved so that each volunteer only needs to contribute around 30 minutes of their time. It’s easy, rewarding, and makes a real impact.”

Tania adds: “We love our SHSA events – from the vibrant summer fair to our fun parent socials, there’s always something to look forward to. If you can spare even an hour per event, we’d be thrilled to have you join us. It’s a great way to support the school and meet wonderful people.”

To build on this success, the SHSA is now inviting two parent volunteers per year group (Years 7–13) to join their committee and help support upcoming events. Volunteering is flexible, with most slots requiring just 30 minutes of time — and every helping hand makes a difference.

Upcoming SHSA events include:

Quizmas Quiz Night (Adults only) – Friday 28th November 2025
Christmas Fundraising Cards (Junior School) – December 2025
School Uniform Sales – January, May & September 2026 (Next uniform sale is Friday 23rd January 8-9.30am)
Summer Family Cinema Evening or Summer Fair – July 2026
Burns Supper (Adults only) – Friday 22nd or 29th January 2027

Parents interested in volunteering or learning more are encouraged to contact the SHSA team at shsa2023@yahoo.com.

Sutton High School extends its heartfelt thanks to all SHSA members — past, present, and future — for their invaluable contributions to school life.
