Year 8 explore the impact of agriculture on climate change

This week in Kaleidoscope Year 8 explored the virtual Minecraft world called ‘Climate Futures: The Farm.’

Here pupils explored the impact of agriculture on climate change and acted as an investigative journalist on assignment to explore the importance of sustainability. The aims were for pupils to gain a greater sense of the following objectives:

  • To understand agriculture, the food supply chain and conflicts in achieving sustainability in infrastructure and industrialization (SDG 9Explore the impact mass food production has on climate change locally, nationally, and globally (SDG 13)
  • Identify strategies to prevent, mitigate or reduce the impact on the environment of mass agriculture (SDG 13)
  • It was great fun and linked in with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13.
